Aquabubs birth pool hire is run by Jane and Phil Bishop
and is based in the New Forest and we supply pools both locally and
Nationwide. We currently have several heated birth pools for hire and
one unheated hexagonal pool.
Aquabubs is part of Amalaika Ltd and we
also run online retail websites selling children's clothing and shoes - www.amalaika.com
and www.milliemoos.com
We have 8 children ranging from 12
years down to baby Caitlin who was born at home in an Aquabubs pool on
23/10/06. Number 9 is due late June/early July 2008.
Our older 2 girls (no's 1
and 3) were emergency c-sections and so eager to avoid this happening
again we looked into ways of making the next birth a natural and enjoyable
experience
Being considered high risk it was
quite hard to arrange a VBA2C at the time and so used Independent
midwives. It was a wonderful experience - but due to being in hospital I
wasnt allowed to use the birthing pool.
For our next child I made sure that
I was able to use the pool and although it was still a hospital birth,
baby Milo was caught by Lesley Hobbs and weighed in at 10lb - another
wonderful birth!
Jude was born in a birth centre and
was born in the caul under water
I decided to have Fred (no 7) at home
because I felt it was safer and avoided the worry about unnecessary
intervention and also meant that the whole family could be involved.
Fred's
pictures
are here with a link to his birth story.
The pool was so much more comfortable than a hospital pool and I felt fine
after 6 hours in it. Kneeling against the sides I found was the best
position at the time but in the weeks before labour started it was nice to
lounge in the pool in the evening - very relaxing!

You can see Caitlin's homebirth in
full by watching the NCT DVD 'Happy Birth Day'. Contact the NCT for a copy

Our 9th baby, Arthur, was born at
home in water on 30 June 2008. You can see his birth montage here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShvOSYf_nCs
We decided to hire this type of pool
out because we were so pleased with the way it works and feels - it was
nice not having to worry about filling the pool whilst in labour or having
to keep the temperature at the correct level because the pool was ready to
use when I needed it. The temperature only took a short while to adjust up
and down during labour and Phil was pleased that he didn't have to cart
buckets of warm water around!
We hope that you will find our
personal service agreeable as well as our rental prices.
We want to promote homebirth both
locally and nationally and want others to discover what a great experience
it can be. We hope that you enjoy birthing in this type of pool as much as
I did!
This is us March 2007!
